The management of a vibrant and successful garden city requires the concerted effort of the various sectors of the horticultural and landscaping industry. Industry professionals, service providers, suppliers as well as the public all play a role in determining the quality of its garden city. Rapid technological advancements as well as rising expectations from a more affluent society make it necessary for all involved in the industry to keep up with changing times. In this respect, we are proud to once again present a platform for the industry to come together to share knowledge, ideas and information, in the form of GardenTech 2002.
GardenTech 2002 has succeeded in generating and attracting interests, both locally and abroad. The enthusiasm, support and cooperation of the various sectors of the industry towards the event, amidst the less than favourable market conditions, augur well for GardenTech as a hallmark of the horticultural and landscaping scene in the region. GardenTech 2002 has succeeded in attracting more than 120 industry participants, including non-commercial organizations, to add value and generate interest across a wider spectrum of audience. In organizing the event this time round, we are pleased to note an increase in the number of enquiries received from abroad. This gives a good reflection of the growing awareness and interests on the event and industry as a whole.
In-line with the objective of sharing knowledge and ideas within the industry, NParks is also proud to present the launch of its e-plant reference guide which features more than 1000 shrubs, trees and palms grown locally. Another first is the GardenTech e-directory which features participating companies in the form of a virtual display. These represent a significant step forward for the industry in reaching out and staying relevant.
The support and interest shown for GardenTech 2002 is testimony to the success of the event in serving as an important focal point and platform to boost the status and image of the industry. I thank the organizers and participants for their efforts and look forward to a fulfilling and enriching experience for all at GardenTech 2002.
